Sat Jan 11 15:41:47 UTC 2025: ## BJP Announces Second List of Delhi Assembly Candidates, Fields Prominent Figures

**New Delhi, [Date]** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its second list of 29 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections on [Date], just weeks before polling day. The announcement includes several high-profile names, signaling a strong push by the party to gain ground in the capital.

Among the notable candidates is Kapil Mishra, former AAP minister and current Delhi BJP Vice President, who will contest from Karawal Nagar. This constituency previously saw the BJP dropping sitting MLA Mohan Singh Bisht to make way for Mishra, who represented the area during his time with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Mishra, who joined the BJP in 2019, generated controversy in 2020 for his comments regarding anti-CAA protests.

Another significant addition is Harish Khurana, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana, who will be contesting from Moti Nagar. Further bolstering the BJP’s lineup is Karnail Singh, head of the party’s temple cell, who will challenge AAP’s former minister Satyendar Jain in Shakur Basti. The BJP’s first list already included Parvesh Verma, son of another former Delhi Chief Minister, Sahib Singh Verma.

The second list also features Neelam Krishan Pahalwan, a BJP councillor, who will contest from Najafgarh – previously held by recent BJP entrant and former AAP minister Kailash Gahlot, who is contesting from Bijwasan.

The BJP’s second list includes five women candidates, bringing their total number of women nominees to seven. With this list, the BJP has now declared candidates for 58 of Delhi’s 70 seats. The party is aiming to capitalize on its early candidate announcements, contrasting with the AAP, which declared all 70 candidates back in December, and the Congress, which has so far announced 47.

Delhi will go to the polls on February 5th, with vote counting scheduled for February 8th.
