**Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu, January 12, 2025** – Construction of Mayiladuthurai district’s new ₹24-crore bus stand in Manakkudi is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed by the end of March, officials announced. Initially projected for a six-month completion, the project is ahead of schedule.
The modern facility, spanning 5,183 sq. m., will accommodate 28 buses simultaneously and offer a range of amenities including 49 shops, 10 passenger waiting areas, two restaurants, luggage storage, two nursing rooms, a reservation counter, police booth, control room, and 32 modern toilets (two for persons with disabilities).
District Collector A.P. Mahabharathi recently visited the site, highlighting the project’s progress. Officials state the new bus stand will alleviate current congestion and significantly improve regional connectivity, benefiting daily commuters, traders, and long-distance travelers. The focus, they emphasized, is on creating a state-of-the-art transportation hub for the district.
