Sat Jan 11 19:04:00 UTC 2025: ## CBSE Accelerates Skill-Based Education in Schools Nationwide

**New Delhi, [Date]** – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has mandated the immediate implementation of skill-based education initiatives in all affiliated schools across India. This move, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical skills, preparing students for the demands of a rapidly evolving job market.

The initiative introduces a comprehensive range of skill modules and subjects for students from classes 6 to 12, accessible through regular classes, hobby clubs, or online self-learning. A total of 22 skill subjects are offered for classes 9 and 10, increasing to 43 for classes 11 and 12, all aligned with the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). Crucially, schools can introduce these subjects without needing separate permission or incurring additional fees.

CBSE is providing extensive support, including online resources, handholding, and mentoring for schools to effectively integrate these initiatives. District Skill Coordinators (DSCs) are being appointed to ensure smooth implementation at the grassroots level. Furthermore, comprehensive career guidance, including a dedicated compendium, is available to help students navigate their future career paths.

A key component of the initiative is the establishment of Composite Skill Labs in all schools by 2026, with details on setup to be released shortly. To bolster teacher capacity, CBSE is organizing regular training programs and workshops in collaboration with industry partners. All skill education programs are free and recognized for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of teachers.

The Board also emphasizes experiential learning through events like hackathons, ideathons, and skill expos. CBSE encourages schools to share success stories of their alumni and provide feedback to further refine the program. Resources such as textbooks, sample papers, and other learning materials are readily available on the CBSE Academic website. This large-scale initiative represents a significant step towards creating a skilled and self-reliant workforce in India.
