**Mumbai, India –** Devjit Saikia has been elected as the new secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The announcement was made on Sunday, January 12th, following a Special General Meeting (SGM). Saikia, who served as interim secretary since Jay Shah became ICC chairman in December 2024, ran unopposed for the position.

He previously served as the secretary of the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) and is also the general secretary of the Guwahati Sports Association. His legal background includes a stint as Assam’s Advocate General.
The 56-year-old, known as “Lone,” played four Ranji Trophy matches for Assam in the 1990-91 season.
