**IRINJALAKUDA, January 11, 2025** – Veteran playback singer P Jayachandran, popularly known as “Bhava Gayakan” for his emotive singing style, was cremated on Saturday. The acclaimed singer, who passed away Thursday evening at a private medical college, was mourned by thousands.
His body lay in state at the National Higher Secondary School in Irinjalakuda for public homage before being moved to his ancestral home in Paliam, Chendamangalam, Paravur. A final viewing was held at the nalukettu (traditional Kerala house) before cremation at the Paliam crematorium after midday.
Ministers MB Rajesh and R Bindu, along with Opposition Leader VD Satheesan, paid their respects. Jayachandran’s prolific career spanned decades, with over 16,000 songs recorded in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. He was a recipient of numerous awards for his contributions to Indian music.
