**TIRUPATI/BHADRACHALAM/ELURU:** Andhra Pradesh witnessed an unprecedented surge in devotees celebrating Vaikuntha Ekadashi on January 1. Millions flocked to various temples across the state, particularly Tirumala, to witness the opening of the “Vaikuntha Dwaram” (celestial gate).

In Tirumala, the hill shrine saw record crowds, with devotees lining up for hours to receive tokens for darshan. Thousands ascended the Tirumala hills, filling the air with chants of “Govinda,” creating a palpable atmosphere of devotion. Special events included Lord Malayappa’s appearance on a golden chariot between 9 am and 11 am.

The celebrations weren’t limited to Tirumala. Bhadhracalam temple also saw huge crowds seeking darshan of Lord Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy through the North Gate (Uttara Dwaram). A unique procession featured the deities of Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy, Lakshmana, and Hanuman, aboard a swan vehicle, gracing the Godavari River. Minister Tummalla Nageswara Rao and MLA Tellam Venkat Rao were also reported to have visited the temple.

At Yadagirigutta, devotees witnessed Lord Vasudeva’s darshan in Garuda Vahana form through the Uttara Dwaram, starting at 5:30 am. Special services, including Garudaseva and Tiruveedi Seva, were also conducted.

Dwarkathirumaalaya in Eluru, known as “Chinna Tirupati,” also experienced a massive influx of devotees eager to see Chinna Venkanna through the North Gate. The temple premises echoed with the chanting of “Govinda,” reflecting the festive spirit.

Overall, Vaikuntha Ekadashi celebrations across Andhra Pradesh were marked by immense religious fervor and record-breaking attendance, showcasing the deep-rooted spirituality of the region.
