**THRISSUR, Kerala –** Renowned Kerala playback singer P. Jayachandran, who passed away on January 9th, was cremated with state honours on Saturday, January 11th, at his ancestral home in Chendamangalam. His son, Dinanathan, lit the pyre around 1:20 p.m. following a brief public homage at the Paliam ancestral home, where hundreds paid their respects. A police guard of honour was also present.
The cremation, initially scheduled for 3:30 p.m., was moved earlier at the family’s request. Ministers K. Rajan, R. Bindu, Thrissur Collector Arjun Pandian, M.B. Rajesh, and Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan were among the dignitaries who offered their condolences. The body was earlier displayed at the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi hall in Thrissur. Family members stated that the cremation in Chendamangalam was in accordance with Jayachandran’s wishes.
