Fri Jan 10 16:49:12 UTC 2025: **Andhra Pradesh Minister Announces Real Estate Reforms to Boost Sector**

Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, P. Narayana, announced significant reforms aimed at revitalizing the state’s struggling real estate sector. Speaking at a CREDAI property show on Friday, January 10th, 2025, the Minister acknowledged the sector’s challenges over the past five years, impacting thousands of families.

The Minister attributed some of the difficulties to the previous government’s three-capitals policy, which he said disrupted various systems. He highlighted the government’s commitment to the development of Amaravati and other towns, promoting balanced growth through initiatives like Smart Cities and infrastructure improvements. The proximity of Vijayawada to Amaravati, he stated, is fueling rapid growth in the local real estate market.

Among the key reforms announced are a simplified building permissions process, including the elimination of permits for buildings up to 15 meters high. The government has also introduced a single-window system to streamline approvals, and empowered Licensed Technical Personnel to grant building permissions. Furthermore, the Minister cited the free sand policy and increased transparency as factors boosting construction activity. He also emphasized the government’s encouragement of affordable housing projects, urging developers to participate. The Minister revealed that 80-90% of the ₹4 lakh crore in signed MOUs is allocated to North Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.
