**Hyderabad, India** – Ram Charan’s highly anticipated film, “Game Changer,” directed by Shankar, has made a phenomenal debut at the Indian box office, raking in over ₹47 crore on its opening day (January 10th). This surpasses the first-day collection of his previous solo release, “Vinaya Vidheya Rama,” solidifying its position as a major box office success.
According to Sacnilk, the film’s impressive total includes ₹38 crore from Telugu-speaking audiences, ₹2 crore from Tamil, and ₹7 crore from Hindi. Smaller contributions came from Kannada (₹0.1 crore) and Malayalam (₹0.03 crore). High occupancy rates, reaching 55.82% for morning shows of the Telugu version, further contributed to the strong opening.
While “Game Changer” outperformed both “Vinaya Vidheya Rama” and “Acharya,” it fell short of the record-breaking opening day of “RRR.” The film marks Charan’s return to a solo lead role after six years, and sees him portraying dual roles as an IAS officer and an activist. Kiara Advani, Anjali, SJ Suryah, and Srikanth also star in the political thriller, which explores corruption within the Indian electoral system.
Critics have offered mixed reviews, with Hindustan Times describing the film as “strictly average,” despite praising its focus on tackling political corruption. The film’s overall success, however, is undeniable, promising a strong run at the box office in the coming days.
