The tragedy, which occurred on January 6th, has claimed the lives of four workers, with five others still missing after a sudden flood inundated the illegal quarry.
Rescue operations are ongoing, entering their sixth day, but the fate of the trapped miners remains uncertain. Gogoi alleges that the incident highlights the rampant problem of unchecked illegal mining in the state, fueled by weak law enforcement and local collusion.
