Patna, January 11, 2025 — The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has issued a legal notice to Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor, demanding evidence within seven days to support his allegations of corruption within the commission. The notice stems from statements Kishor made on January 2nd, 3rd, and 6th, as well as a YouTube video, where he accused the BPSC of selling seats for ₹30 lakh to ₹1.5 crore.
Kishor had previously staged an indefinite hunger strike demanding the cancellation of the 70th BPSC Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination due to alleged irregularities. The BPSC contends that Kishor’s claims are defamatory and have caused unrest among students.
BPSC Secretary Satya Prakash Sharma stated that the allegations are “unpardonable” and create a harmful atmosphere for genuine candidates, many of whom come from impoverished backgrounds. The legal notice, delivered through Patna High Court advocate Sanjay Singh, asserts that Kishor’s actions have damaged the BPSC’s reputation and credibility. The notice warns that failure to provide evidence could result in further legal action under various laws, including the Bihar Non-Striking Act of 2023 and the IT Act.
