**Washington, D.C. –** Former President Jimmy Carter was laid to rest following a moving state funeral service at the Washington National Cathedral on Thursday. The service drew a who’s who of political figures, including President Biden, President-elect Donald Trump, and former Presidents Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and George W. Bush.

President Biden delivered a eulogy, while tributes were also offered by Steve Ford (son of Gerald Ford, Carter’s 1976 opponent), Ted Mondale (son of Walter Mondale), former White House advisor Stu Eizenstat, and Carter’s grandson, Jason Carter. Carter’s grandson Joshua also participated, reading a Bible passage. A homily was delivered by former UN Ambassador Andrew Young.

The service featured a diverse musical program including performances by the Cathedral Choir, renowned singers Phyllis Adams and Lelia Bolden, country music stars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, and the U.S. Marine Orchestra and Armed Forces Chorus.

The funeral concluded almost a week of national mourning for the 39th president, who passed away on December 29th at the age of 100. Carter will be interred alongside his wife, Rosalynn, in Plains, Georgia.
