**OAK PARK, IL** – The Village of Oak Park has released body camera footage depicting the November 29th shooting that resulted in the death of Police Detective Allan Reddins. The graphic video shows the moments leading up to and including the shooting during a response to an armed robbery report. While the footage has been edited to avoid showing the moment Detective Reddins falls after being shot, it depicts the confrontation between the detective and the suspect, Jerell Thomas.
Following the shooting of Detective Reddins, responding officers returned fire, wounding Thomas, who was subsequently taken into custody. Thomas is now facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, and is scheduled for a court appearance in March. The release of the bodycam footage comes as the community continues to mourn the loss of Detective Reddins.
