Thu Jan 09 18:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Belichick’s College Coaching Stint Could Be Short-Lived as NFL Teams Show Interest

**Las Vegas, NV –** Just weeks after agreeing to a five-year contract to coach the University of North Carolina, legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick is reportedly fielding interest from multiple NFL teams. The Las Vegas Raiders, notably, have been in contact with Belichick, spurred on by minority owner Tom Brady, who believes Belichick’s expertise is crucial to turning around the franchise’s fortunes after firing head coach Antonio Pierce.

Sources indicate Brady has directly spoken to Belichick about a potential return to the NFL. While Belichick’s contract with UNC includes a $10 million buyout, it’s considered a relatively manageable sum, particularly given the potential salaries offered by NFL teams.

The Raiders aren’t alone; at least one other unnamed team has also expressed interest. With several NFL teams currently seeking head coaches, including the Jets, Saints, Bears, Jaguars, Patriots, and potentially the Cowboys, the competition for Belichick’s services could mirror the situation surrounding Jim Harbaugh last year.

Belichick’s situation is unique, however, as he hasn’t yet coached a single college game. Yet, his championship pedigree and desire to continue winning at a high level are clearly attractive to NFL franchises. The NFL’s Rooney Rule, mandating interviews with minority candidates, will further extend the hiring process, meaning a decision on Belichick’s future could take several weeks. The Jaguars, with owner Shad Khan’s demonstrated commitment to investment, present a particularly compelling alternative to the Raiders.
