Vitale, 85, announced on social media today that a recent examination revealed his vocal cords to be cancer-free. His doctor has cleared him to resume his beloved courtside commentary for ESPN.

This marks the culmination of a series of cancer diagnoses and treatments for Vitale, who has faced melanoma, lymphoma, and two separate occurrences of vocal cord and lymph node cancer in recent years. While he’s been largely absent from ESPN broadcasts during his treatments, he made an emotional return in 2021.
