Fri Jan 10 05:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Gujarat High Court Grants Bail to The Hindu Correspondent in GST Scam Case
**Ahmedabad, Gujarat –** Mahesh Langa, a correspondent for The Hindu newspaper, has been granted bail by the Gujarat High Court in connection with an alleged GST scam. The court, in its order on January 9th, 2024, stated that there was insufficient evidence to establish money laundering. Mr. Langa’s arrest on October 8th, 2024, and the subsequent completion of the investigation, were cited as reasons for granting bail.
The case, filed by Gujarat Police in October 2024, alleges a fraud committed between February 1st and May 1st, 2023. The primary accused is Dhruvi Enterprise, which allegedly created shell companies to generate and receive fraudulent input tax credits through fake invoices. DA Enterprise, a company linked to Mr. Langa, is mentioned in the FIR.
The court acknowledged that the prosecution claims Mr. Langa and other co-accused purchased fake invoices from Dhruvi Enterprise, wrongfully claiming input tax credits. However, the court noted Mr. Langa’s willingness to repay the wrongly availed amount, ultimately concluding that the case warranted bail.
This is the second bail Mr. Langa has received this year. In November, an Ahmedabad sessions court granted him anticipatory bail in a separate case involving alleged cheating of ₹28 lakh.
