Thu Jan 09 18:26:34 UTC 2025: **ED Concludes Two-Day Raid on Bengaluru City Corporation, Seeks Wide Range of Documents**

Bengaluru, January 10, 2025 – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) concluded a two-day raid on the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) headquarters on Thursday. The investigation, initially focused on a ₹400 crore borewell and reverse osmosis scam, expanded to include a significantly broader range of projects.

Sources within the BBMP revealed that the ED sought over 20 documents, including standing committee resolutions and details of work allocated to Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Ltd. (KRIDL) between 2014 and 2024. This encompasses road works, building construction, flyovers, and other projects. The agency also requested details of former councillors implicated in the borewell scam, including personal information like contact numbers, Aadhaar, and PAN card details.

While the initial ECIR (Enforcement Case Information Report) targeted the borewell scam, the ED’s investigation expanded to include details on ₹46,000 crore worth of asphalting projects and detailed project reports for tunnel roads. A senior BBMP official expressed concern that the scope of the ED’s inquiry exceeded the remit of the original ECIR. The ED’s actions have raised questions about the extent of its investigation beyond the initially reported scam.
