Fri Jan 10 04:09:34 UTC 2025: ## St. Teresa’s College to Stage Fusion Dance Adaptation of Swan Lake

**Kochi, January 10, 2025** – St. Teresa’s College (STC) will celebrate its centenary with a unique performance: *Hamsadhwani – Words in Motion*, a fusion dance adaptation of Tchaikovsky’s *Swan Lake*. The production, set for January 11th at the college’s Platinum Jubilee Auditorium, will blend classical Indian dance forms like Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, and Kathakali with contemporary and folk styles.

Forty-six dancers, mostly current and former STC students, will bring the iconic ballet to life. The choreography, by Suma Varma, a 1987 STC graduate, incorporates a narrative element delivered by Varma herself. The concept, however, originated with Sajeena Jacob, based in Ghana, who collaborated with Varma on previous projects. Jacob, whose family has strong ties to the college, praises Varma’s innovative approach to the classical material.

The production features a diverse cast, including notable alumnae Remya Nambeesan, Mrudula Murali, and Devi Chandana, as well as a 70-year-old former student, Sushama R. Seven male dancers, including contemporary dancer Satyajith Ravindranath, complete the ensemble.

The music, composed by Krishna Raj, is an original score created specifically for *Hamsadhwani*. The project, which began a year and a half ago, involved extensive rehearsals since October 2024. The costumes are by STC alumnae Mini Jacob and Dhanya Raghunath, and makeup is by Pattanam Rasheed.

*Hamsadhwani* promises a captivating blend of tradition and innovation, celebrating both the enduring appeal of *Swan Lake* and the rich artistic legacy of St. Teresa’s College. Tickets are available on quickkerala.com or by calling 8129905333.
