**Thrissur, Kerala:** Renowned playback singer P. Jayachandran passed away on [Date] at the age of 80 following a battle with cancer. He breathed his last at Amala Hospital in Thrissur after collapsing at his home in Poonkunnathu. He had been undergoing treatment at the hospital for several years.

Jayachandran, a celebrated voice in Malayalam cinema for over five decades, leaves behind a legacy of over 16,000 songs in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. His contributions earned him numerous accolades, including a National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer, five Kerala State Film Awards, the JC Daniel Award from the Kerala government, the Kalaimamani award from the Tamil Nadu government, and four Tamil Nadu State Awards.

His body is currently at Amala Hospital’s mortuary and will be brought to his Poonkunnathu residence for public viewing at 8:00 AM today. A public viewing will also be held at the Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Regional Theatre at 10:00 AM. The cremation will take place at 3:30 PM tomorrow in Cheramangalam, Paravoor.

He is survived by his wife Lalitha, daughter Lakshmi, and son Dinanathan, who is also a singer. The music industry mourns the loss of this iconic figure.
