**Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh:** A 25-year-old man, Sudheer Kumar, died by suicide in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, leaving behind a suicide note accusing his lover’s family of relentless harassment. Kumar’s body was found hanging from a tree near his home this morning.
Kumar, who had been in a relationship with Komal for four years, married her in a court ceremony six months ago. However, he alleged that Komal’s family strongly opposed the relationship and subjected him to constant harassment. He detailed his accusations in a suicide note and a poignant Facebook post titled “Hamari Adhoori Kahani” (Our Incomplete Story), which included photos from his court wedding and marriage certificate.
The note alleges that even Komal’s brother, who initially supported their relationship, later turned against him under pressure from his parents. Kumar claimed that despite Komal repeatedly expressing her desire to be with him, their relationship deteriorated after she informed her family of their marriage. He further stated that Komal, her mother, and her brother urged him to end his life.
Kumar’s family corroborated his claims, stating that Komal’s parents repeatedly pressured him to divorce Komal, but he refused unless Komal herself requested it.
Police have launched an investigation following a complaint filed by Sudheer’s family. The body has been sent for autopsy. The investigation will focus on the allegations of harassment leading to Kumar’s suicide.
