This initiative follows the UGC’s 2022 regulations on academic collaborations between Indian and foreign HEIs, implemented in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The NEP 2020 emphasizes increased research collaboration and student exchange programs with global institutions, allowing for the recognition of credits earned at foreign universities towards Indian degrees.
The UGC annually advises HEIs on admitting international students, permitting up to 25% supernumerary seats in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Institutions can choose to implement this provision, adhering to specific guidelines and regulations from relevant regulatory bodies.
