**Namakkal, January 9, 2025** – Namakkal District Crime Branch (DCB) police arrested a 38-year-old steel company proprietor, N. Dinesh Raj, on Wednesday for allegedly defrauding a businessman of ₹15 crore. Raj, a resident of Paramathi Velur, convinced A. Kalaiselvan (43) of Pudukkottai to invest in a purported iron wire dealership. Between January and November 2023, Kalaiselvan paid ₹15 crore in installments, but received no iron wires and no return of his investment. After discovering the steel company’s address was non-functional, Kalaiselvan filed a complaint, leading to Raj’s arrest under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The investigation is ongoing.
