**Prayagraj, India** – With the Mahakumbh festival days away, authorities in Uttar Pradesh are implementing a comprehensive seven-layer security plan to ensure the safety of millions of pilgrims. Inspector General of Police Tarun Gaba announced the robust security measures, which include the deployment of 2700 cameras, some AI-enabled, to monitor key locations. Checks will be conducted at multiple levels to identify suspicious individuals.
This multi-agency effort involves state and central government agencies working in coordination. A preemptive security campaign, led by Deputy Inspector General Vaibhav Krishna, has already begun, focusing on heightened surveillance at the Sangam Ghat, pontoon bridges, and major intersections. All station in-charges have been instructed to increase vigilance.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, visited Prayagraj to inspect preparations and meet with airport officials to review arrangements for the influx of devotees. He expressed satisfaction with the preparations underway, praising the efforts under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The focus is on ensuring a smooth and orderly festival for all attendees.
