Thu Jan 09 07:10:09 UTC 2025: ## Musk Insults Trudeau Amid Trump’s Push for US-Canada Merger

**OTTAWA/NEW YORK –** Elon Musk has lashed out at former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, dismissing his rejection of US President-elect Donald Trump’s proposal to integrate Canada into the United States. Following Trudeau’s statement that a US-Canada merger is “a snowball’s chance in hell,” Musk tweeted, “Girl, you’re not the governor of Canada anymore, so it doesn’t matter what you say.”

Trump, who has repeatedly advocated for Canada’s annexation as the 51st US state, has threatened to impose significant tariffs on Canadian goods unless border security is increased. He claims this merger would improve national security.

Trudeau’s strong rejection came hours after his resignation as Prime Minister, citing internal dissent and declining popularity. His departure leaves Canada politically vulnerable, particularly given Trump’s aggressive stance. Economists warn that the threatened tariffs could severely damage Canada’s already fragile economy.

This is not the first time Musk has publicly criticized Trudeau. Last month, he called the former Prime Minister “such an insufferable tool” after Trudeau indirectly criticized Trump during an Ottawa event.

Trudeau’s resignation, while effective immediately, will not fully take effect until a successor is chosen in late March. The prorogation of Parliament until March 24 further exacerbates Canada’s political instability during this period of heightened US-Canada tension.
