**Bengaluru, January 8, 2025** – The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced a second postponement of its Space Docking Experiment (SpaDEx), scheduled for January 9th. The agency cited unexpected satellite drift during a crucial maneuver as the reason for the delay.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), ISRO stated that during an attempt to position the two satellites 225 meters apart, the observed drift exceeded expectations. The agency assured the public that both satellites remain safe and further updates will be provided.
This marks the second postponement of SpaDEx. The experiment, originally planned for January 7th, was first delayed to January 9th before this latest setback.
SpaDEx is a crucial project aimed at developing and demonstrating the technology required for spacecraft rendezvous, docking, and undocking. ISRO has emphasized the experiment’s importance in advancing India’s capabilities for future space missions, including satellite servicing, space station operations, and interplanetary exploration.
