**DALLAS, TX** – Numerous North Texas school districts have announced closures for Thursday, January 9th, and some for Friday, January 10th, in anticipation of a major winter storm bringing snow, ice, and freezing temperatures to the region. The closures affect a wide swathe of the area, impacting thousands of students.

Among the districts announcing closures for Thursday, January 9th are: Arlington, Aledo, Alvarado, Azle, Burleson, Birdville, Carroll, Cedar Hill, Cleburne, Coppell, Crandall, Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Decatur, DeSoto, Duncanville, Farmersville, Frisco, Forney, Fort Worth, Garland, Grand Prairie, Grapevine-Colleyville, Greenville, Irving, Kennedale, Lancaster, Lewisville, Mansfield, McKinney, Mesquite, Northwest, Plano, Prosper, Richardson, Rockwall, Sulphur Springs, White Settlement, and Wylie ISDs.
