**Kochi, January 10, 2025** – Bobby Chemmannur, a businessman arrested on charges of sexual assault, appeared before the Ernakulam First Class Judicial Magistrate Court today. Chemmannur was arrested yesterday following a complaint filed by actress Honey Rose. He was apprehended at his estate in Wayanad and brought to Kochi Central Police Station where he underwent a medical examination twice.
Chemmannur pleaded not guilty, claiming the charges stem from a misinterpretation of his words. He was charged under sections 75 (1) and (4) of the Indian Penal Code, related to sexual assault and harassment, and sections 6 and 7 of the IT Act. Since sexual assault is a non-bailable offense, Chemmannur will have to apply for bail through the court.
Honey Rose provided her statement to the court yesterday. The investigating team will submit a copy of this statement to the court today, which may lead to further charges against Chemmannur. His bail application will also be considered by the court. He is being represented by Raman Pillai Associates.
Honey Rose received support from both the government and the police following her complaint, which she filed with senior officials including ADGP Manoj Abraham and Kochi City Police Commissioner Puthu Vimaladitya.
