Thu Jan 09 15:36:03 UTC 2025: **Businessman Bobby Chemmannur Remanded in Honey Rose Sexual Harassment Case**

KOCHI: Businessman Bobby Chemmannur was remanded in custody for 14 days by the Ernakulam First Class Judicial Magistrate Court on Thursday. He was arrested Wednesday following a sexual harassment complaint filed by actress Honey Rose. Chemmannur’s bail plea was rejected. He reportedly experienced health issues following the court’s decision.

Chemmannur’s defense argued that the accusations were false and that Honey Rose had delayed filing the complaint. His lawyer, Adv. B. Raman Pillai, claimed the alleged incident stemmed from a misinterpretation of a conversation and presented video evidence showing a continued amicable relationship between Chemmannur and Honey Rose after the event in question. This video evidence, reportedly shared by Honey Rose herself, was submitted to the court. The defense also expressed willingness to surrender Chemmannur’s passport.

The prosecution, however, argued against bail, citing Honey Rose’s statement detailing inappropriate touching and sexually suggestive remarks made by Chemmannur in front of a large audience, with images of the event being shared on social media. The prosecution stated that the actress was deeply distressed by the incident and that granting bail risked Chemmannur absconding.

Chemmannur was taken into custody from his Wayanad estate Wednesday morning and brought to Kochi by the Ernakulam Central Police’s special investigation team. His phone has been seized for examination.

Honey Rose had previously recorded a confidential statement before the magistrate and indicated further accusations may be forthcoming. She has expressed confidence in receiving protection from the Kerala government and police.
