**Kannur, Kerala – January 8, 2025:** A tragic accident claimed the lives of two people and injured two others this morning in Kannur, Kerala. A car collided with a private bus at the Uliyil bridge on the Iritty-Mattannur route at approximately 8:10 a.m.
K.T. Beena and Lijo B. were pronounced dead on arrival at a Kannur hospital. K.T. Albin and K.M. Thomas are receiving treatment for their injuries at the same hospital.
Eyewitnesses state that the Karnataka-registered car lost control and crashed into a bus that had momentarily stopped to pick up a passenger. The car sustained significant damage, particularly on the driver’s side, trapping the occupants.
The impact caused traffic disruption, forcing vehicles to be rerouted through Padikachal. Police and Motor Vehicles Department officials are investigating the cause of the accident.
