**Bengaluru, January 7, 2025** – The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner, Tushar Giri Nath, has ordered a crackdown on unauthorized constructions in the city’s East Zone. Following a zonal visit where residents raised concerns about illegal buildings, Mr. Nath instructed officials to seal structures violating approved plans and those with dismissed appeals. Electricity disconnections for these buildings will also be pursued through Bescom.
The action comes in response to approximately 50 public complaints received during the visit. While most grievances from previous sessions have been addressed, officials have been tasked with resolving the new complaints swiftly. Mr. Nath also addressed concerns about the Cox Town Market inauguration and shop allocation, demanding action within a week. He further emphasized penalties for illegal dumping and instructed marshals to actively monitor and fine offenders.
The BBMP Chief Commissioner reiterated the civic body’s commitment to effectively resolving public issues and assured residents that all grievances will be addressed promptly.
