Wed Jan 08 15:28:50 UTC 2025: ## Thoothukudi Mayor Takes Action Against Stray Cattle, Upgrades Parks for Pongal
**THOOOTHUKUDI, January 8, 2025** – Thoothukudi Mayor N.P. Jegan announced a crackdown on owners of stray cattle causing traffic hazards and public safety concerns. The Corporation has already fined owners for over 50 stray animals, and stricter action is promised.
In preparation for the upcoming Pongal festival, major parks in the city, including M.G.R Park, Muthu Nagar Park, and Roche Park, are undergoing renovations to accommodate the expected influx of visitors. Improvements to park facilities are underway.
Addressing water stagnation issues in vacant plots in Kokkuar and Postal Colony, the Mayor stated that the Corporation is working with plot owners and providing affordable soil to resolve the problem before the next monsoon.
The public grievance redressal meeting also received petitions requesting the installation of CCTV cameras in municipal schools and the establishment of ATM centers at the smart city bus stand.
