**Kalaburagi, Karnataka – January 8, 2025** – The Karnataka Rajya Chalavadi Mahasabha has accused the Health and Family Welfare Department of systematically denying promotions to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) doctors in Kalaburagi district. The Mahasabha alleges that seniority is being ignored in appointments to senior positions in Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs).
Mahadev Mogha, the district president of the Mahasabha, stated that several instances demonstrate this bias. He cited the appointments of non-senior doctors to key administrative roles in Jewargi, Nelogi, Afzalpur, and Station Ganagapur, bypassing significantly more experienced SC/ST doctors with decades of service in the district. For example, a doctor with 22 years of experience was overlooked for a position in Jewargi, while a 14-year veteran was passed over in Nelogi. Similar cases were reported in Afzalpur and Station Ganagapur.
Mogha contends that these actions constitute a deliberate denial of promotional opportunities for SC/ST doctors. The Mahasabha is demanding immediate intervention and rectification of these alleged discriminatory practices by the Health and Family Welfare Department.
