Wed Jan 08 17:55:18 UTC 2025: ## OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Denies Sister’s Sexual Abuse Allegations

**San Francisco, CA –** OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has vehemently denied allegations of repeated sexual abuse levied against him by his sister, Annie Altman, in a lawsuit filed this week. The lawsuit, filed in the US Eastern District of Missouri, alleges that the abuse began when Annie was three years old and Sam was twelve, continuing “several times per week” and including both oral and penetrative acts. The lawsuit seeks damages exceeding $75,000 and claims Annie suffers from severe emotional distress and depression as a result.

This is not the first time Annie has made such accusations. She previously made public allegations of sexual, physical, emotional, verbal, financial, and technological abuse against Sam and another sibling on X (formerly Twitter) in 2021.

In a joint statement released Tuesday night, Sam Altman, his mother Connie, and his brothers Jack and Max denied all allegations. They characterized Annie’s claims as “deeply hurtful and entirely untrue” and attributed her actions to “mental health challenges” and a refusal of treatment. The family claims they have provided extensive financial and emotional support to Annie, including paying bills, covering rent, assisting with job searches, seeking medical help, and even offering to buy her a house.

The lawsuit comes at a tumultuous time for Altman. He recently survived a brief ouster from his role as OpenAI CEO, only to be reinstated with the backing of investors. He is also currently engaged in a legal battle with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, a co-founder of OpenAI, over the company’s for-profit status. The timing and the high-profile nature of Altman’s position are expected to intensify media scrutiny surrounding these serious allegations. Annie Altman’s lawyer has not yet responded to requests for comment.
