**Bengaluru, January 8, 2025** – A newly developed housing layout in Bengaluru, the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout (NPKL), is facing a mounting waste problem due to the Bangalore Development Authority’s (BDA) delay in providing basic amenities. Residents report that the lack of paved roads has stalled construction, leaving vacant plots to become dumping grounds for household waste, medical waste, and construction debris.
The situation is particularly concerning in Blocks 1, 2, 3, and 4, where residents say the absence of paved roads prevents them from building homes. This, coupled with infrequent waste collection by the local panchayat, has created an ideal environment for illegal dumping. Medical waste, including used syringes and soiled bedding, is reportedly being discarded alongside other refuse.
Residents and representatives from the NPKL Open Forum have urged the BDA to expedite road construction and waste removal. A senior BDA official acknowledged the problem, noting that similar issues arose last year and were resolved with the authority’s intervention. The official confirmed that the BDA will take action to clear the waste. The situation mirrors previous issues in Visvesvaraya Layout, which were resolved after BDA intervention. This incident highlights ongoing challenges in infrastructure development and waste management within Bengaluru’s expanding urban landscape.
