**Hyderabad, January 8, 2025** – United Breweries Limited (UBL), the maker of Kingfisher and Heineken beers, announced it is halting beer supplies to Telangana with immediate effect due to unsustainable losses. The company cited stagnant base prices for its products over the past two years, coupled with rising costs, as the primary reason. Significant overdue payments from the Telangana Beverages Corporation Limited (TGBCL) further exacerbated the situation.
UBL stated that despite contributing over ₹4,500 crore annually to the state’s revenue, continued operation under these conditions is impossible. The Brewers Association of India has also appealed to the Telangana government to address industry-wide concerns regarding inflation-driven cost increases, but no resolution has been found.
UBL emphasized its commitment to its employees and appealed to the state government for immediate action to address the financial challenges and ensure the long-term viability of the brewing industry in Telangana.
