“It is out of the question that the European Union would allow other countries…to attack its sovereign borders, whoever they are,” Barrot declared on French radio. Trump’s comments, made Tuesday, refused to rule out the use of military force to obtain Greenland or the Panama Canal. When asked about using economic or military coercion to gain control of either location, he replied, “I’m not gonna commit to that. No. It might be that you’ll have to do something.” The European Commission has yet to formally respond.
