**Sathyamangalam, January 8, 2025** – A 55-year-old farmer from Sathyamangalam was fined ₹25,000 for attempting to sell venison, according to officials. Acting on a tip-off, forest officials discovered the farmer, identified as Perumal, had butchered a spotted deer that had been killed by dogs after wandering from the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve. The carcass and a sickle were seized. Perumal was subsequently fined by the Deputy Director of Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve and released with a warning after paying the fine.
