**Dallas, TX –** A major winter storm is poised to hit the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area Thursday, bringing significant snow accumulations and widespread travel disruptions, according to FOX 4 Weather. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for much of North Texas from late Wednesday night through Friday afternoon.
While the forecast is still being refined, the FOX 4 Weather team predicts the storm will bring a wintry mix south of DFW on Thursday, transitioning to heavier snowfall Thursday night into Friday morning. Snow is expected to continue into early Friday before moving out.
Snow accumulation will vary across the region. Areas north and east of the Metroplex are expected to receive 3 to 6 inches or more, while the DFW Metroplex anticipates 2 to 4 inches. Areas to the southwest and northwest of DFW could see 1 to 3 inches. However, these figures are subject to change depending on the duration of any warm air layers.
Regardless of the exact accumulation, FOX 4 warns of major travel disruptions across the region. Residents are urged to stay tuned to FOX 4, the FOX 4 Weather app, and FOX LOCAL for the latest updates and forecast refinements.
