**Mangaluru, January 8, 2025** – Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will grace the third edition of the Naringana Kambala, a traditional buffalo race in Ullal Taluk, on Saturday. Speaker U.T. Khader confirmed the Chief Minister’s attendance, stating that Mr. Siddaramaiah’s participation was secured following a meeting with Kambala Samiti members in Bengaluru.
The two-day event, known as the Lava-Kusha Jodukare Kambala, will commence at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Organizers expect Mr. Siddaramaiah’s presence to significantly boost the event’s prominence.
Naringana Kambala, boasting a large racing track, has attracted a substantial number of participants in recent years, ranking among the top three Kambala events in the region. Organizers have ensured adequate facilities for buffaloes, handlers, jockeys, and owners. Awards include gold medals for the top four pairs in each section and silver medals for all participants.
The inaugural ceremony will feature several dignitaries, including Sridhama Manila seer Mohanadasa Paramahamsa Swami. The evening program, starting at 6 p.m., will see the participation of Mr. Siddaramaiah, Mr. Khader, MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta, and other Karnataka Ministers. The event’s success is attributed to the long-standing efforts of the Naringana Kambala Samiti, led by Venkappa Kajava Mitthakodi and his son Prashanth Kajava Mitthakodi.
