**CHENNAI, January 8, 2025** – Chennai City police have arrested John Okaber, a Nigerian national also known as Kempala, in New Delhi. Okaber was wanted in connection with a methamphetamine smuggling case originating in Chennai.
The arrest follows an October 2024 incident where over a kilogram of methamphetamine was seized near the Naduvankarai bridge, leading to the detention of 15 individuals, including S. Arunkumar of Ambattur. A special police team tracked Okaber to Delhi, where he was apprehended on January 3rd. He is suspected of being a key figure in the smuggling operation.
