Wed Jan 08 17:05:25 UTC 2025: ## Arm and Nvidia Partner to Power Next-Gen Autonomous Vehicles

**LAS VEGAS, NV – January 2025** – The convergence of the automotive and tech industries continues to accelerate, with the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) highlighting the increasing reliance on advanced processing and connectivity in vehicles. To meet this demand, Arm and Nvidia have announced a significant partnership to deliver the Nvidia Drive AGX Thor centralized compute system.

Built on Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture and utilizing Arm’s Neoverse V3AE CPU, Drive AGX Thor is designed to power the next generation of software-defined vehicles (SDVs). This system will offer the high-performance computing needed for sophisticated AI applications, including automated driving, parking, driver/passenger monitoring, and advanced cockpit features.

According to Arm, the system will significantly reduce the number of individual components currently needed for similar functionality, leading to improved efficiency and cost savings for automakers. Several major automotive manufacturers, including BYD, XPENG, and Nuro, have already committed to using Drive AGX Thor in their future SDVs.

The collaboration leverages Arm’s expertise in creating powerful and energy-efficient processors with Nvidia’s leading AI technology. Arm highlights the growing importance of generative AI (GenAI) in the automotive sector and the need for platforms capable of handling the complex algorithms required for advanced autonomous driving features.

“The automotive industry is undergoing a seismic shift, with vehicles becoming increasingly sophisticated computers on wheels,” said Dipti Vachani, senior vice president and general manager of Arm’s automotive line of business. “Our partnership with Nvidia, and the adoption of Drive AGX Thor, underscores our commitment to enabling the next generation of cutting-edge SDVs.”

Drive AGX Thor is expected to be available in production vehicles later in 2025.
