**Vellore, January 8, 2025** – Three individuals narrowly escaped injury after their car caught fire on the Chittoor-Cuddalore Highway near the Katpadi Chittoor bus stand in Vellore on Wednesday.

According to police, K. Sridhar (38) of Tiruvallur was traveling with his family to a homeopathic clinic in Katpadi when he noticed smoke emanating from the car’s bonnet. Sridhar, his mother K. Varalakshmi (68), and another family member quickly exited the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames.

Firefighters from Katpadi arrived to extinguish the blaze, but the car was completely destroyed. The three occupants were taken to the Government Medical College Hospital for a precautionary medical check-up. They sustained no injuries.

Traffic on the highway was disrupted for approximately an hour while police removed the damaged car. Authorities suspect an electrical short circuit caused the fire. A case has been registered by Katpadi police, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
