**Kalpetta, January 8, 2025:** Bobby Chemmannur, a prominent businessman, was arrested this morning in Wayanad district, Kerala, in a surprise operation by the Ernakulam Central Police and a Wayanad SP squad. The arrest, made around 9 AM at Chemmannur’s tea estate and resort, “1000 Acres,” in Meppadi, followed the filing of a non-bailable case against him.

Police sources indicate the operation was a swift response to prevent Chemmannur from going into hiding or securing pre-arrest bail. He had reportedly been in Wayanad for two days. After being taken into custody, Chemmannur was briefly held at a nearby AR camp before being transported to Ernakulam by police vehicle around noon. The Ernakulam police arrived in Wayanad early this morning.

The arrest was kept highly secretive, with even local police reportedly unaware until the last minute. Police prevented media from capturing images of Chemmannur during his transfer. Reports indicate that Chemmannur made a gesture towards the media during transit. The journey to Kochi is expected to take around six hours.
