Wed Jan 08 07:54:55 UTC 2025: ## Patna Administration Clarifies on Prashant Kishor’s Arrest and Release

**Patna, January 7, 2025** – The Patna district administration has issued a clarification regarding the arrest and subsequent release of Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan Suraj, who had been on a hunger strike. Kishor had claimed he was taken to Beur Jail without proper paperwork.

The administration stated that Kishor was brought to Beur police station to maintain law and order following a large gathering of his supporters at the civil court, causing disruption to other litigants. While Kishor’s lawyer reportedly stated a ₹25,000 bond was required for release, Kishor initially refused. He was released on bail after the court order was received and the bond was paid. Earlier reports suggesting conditional bail were incorrect; the final bail was granted unconditionally, removing a condition prohibiting further protests.

The administration refuted Kishor’s claims regarding a withheld fitness certificate at a Fatuhha health center following his arrest for a health check-up. They clarified that fitness certificates are not required for court appearances, only a health report, and that the doctor was not pressured to provide a false certificate. The administration characterized Kishor’s allegations as an attempt to gain cheap popularity.

Furthermore, the administration asserted that protesting at Bapu Murti Gandhi Maidan is illegal, contradicting Kishor’s implication that the court order did not prohibit protests at that location. The administration maintains that the Gandhi statue park is not designated as a protest site.
