Tue Jan 07 08:35:08 UTC 2025: ## Prashant Kishor Hospitalized After Arrest During Bihar Exam Protest Fast

**Patna, Bihar –** Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor, who launched a hunger strike demanding the cancellation of a Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam, was hospitalized on Tuesday after being arrested and released. Kishor, who began his fast on January 2nd, was arrested Monday for his unauthorized protest at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan. Following his release on bail, his health deteriorated due to dehydration and a throat infection.

Despite initially refusing medical attention, Kishor, reportedly suffering from gastric issues and general weakness, was eventually taken to Medanta Hospital in Patna after repeated pleas from party members. A medical team and ambulance were on standby at his residence. While at the hospital, Kishor stated he had consumed water but would continue his fast.

The BPSC exam, held on December 13th, 2024, was marred by allegations of a question paper leak. Although the commission conducted a retest on January 4th for a select group of candidates, Kishor’s party continues to demand the complete cancellation of the exam. Police filed an FIR against Kishor and 150 supporters for the illegal protest. Kishor later claimed his bail was unconditional, rejecting earlier offers he deemed unreasonable. The retest, held at 22 centers in Patna, saw 5,943 out of 8,111 eligible candidates participate, with no reported irregularities.
