Tue Jan 07 15:16:07 IST 2025: **Prashant Kishor Hospitalized After Arrest for Hunger Strike**

PATNA, Bihar—Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Patna after his health deteriorated following his arrest and subsequent release on Monday. Kishor had been staging an indefinite hunger strike at Gandhi Maidan in protest of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination, which he and civil service aspirants believe needs to be cancelled due to alleged irregularities.

His arrest stemmed from a violation of a Patna High Court order prohibiting such demonstrations outside the designated Gardani Bagh locality. Police arrested him early Monday morning, leading to minor clashes with his supporters.

While initially granted bail with the condition that he refrain from future illegal protests, Kishor refused to accept the bail, claiming the condition amounted to admitting guilt. He was briefly in judicial custody before being released.

In a press conference, Kishor detailed his ordeal, alleging that police took him to various locations, including AIIMS Patna, delaying his medical attention for hours. He also claimed that police attempted to obtain a medical certificate from a doctor in Fatuha without his consent. He maintains his innocence and that his arrest was politically motivated. His ongoing hunger strike highlights the growing discontent among civil service aspirants regarding the BPSC exam.
