Tue Jan 07 10:16:08 UTC 2025: ## Prashant Kishor Hospitalized During Sixth Day of Hunger Strike

**Patna, Bihar:** Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraj Party, was hospitalized on Tuesday, the sixth day of his hunger strike protesting the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam irregularities. While his condition is reported as stable, he was shifted to the ICU of Medanta Hospital in Patna after experiencing some discomfort. Doctors have conducted blood and urine tests. Kishor, who is refusing food, is expected to remain hospitalized through Tuesday.

Kishor’s fast follows his release from police custody on Monday evening. He vowed to continue his protest, even after his arrest and subsequent release. His team is planning to announce a new location for the hunger strike. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a petition demanding the cancellation of the BPSC 70th preliminary exam and action against police and administrative officials involved in a recent crackdown on protesters.

The opposition’s protests over the BPSC exam continue to escalate. Pappu Yadav, MP from Purnea, has announced a Bihar bandh (shutdown) for January 12th, following recent road blockades. He urged participation in a protest on January 9th alongside the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance).

Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav’s inaction has drawn criticism from Kishor, who challenged him to lead the protest instead of merely tweeting about it.

A statement from the Jan Suraj Party on social media maintained their determination to continue the fight for the students. While the government claims to be sensitive to the issue, allegations persist that the protests are being politicized. BJP spokesperson Dilip Jaiswal dismissed claims that Kishor is a “B team” of the BJP, stating that anyone is welcome to join Nitish Kumar’s government.
