Tue Jan 07 00:15:04 UTC 2025: ## Bihar Politician Prashant Kishor Arrested During Protest, Refuses Bail

**Patna, Bihar:** Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraj political movement, was arrested Monday morning in Patna after a protest over the cancellation of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam. Kishor had been on a hunger strike at Gandhi Maidan since January 2nd, demanding the exam’s annulment.

His arrest, which followed a confrontation between police and his supporters, led to clashes and resulted in injuries, including a broken arm for a police officer. Police used force to disperse the crowds gathered at Gandhi Maidan, the Civil Court, and outside AIIMS, Patna. Approximately 43 individuals, including Kishor’s supporters, were detained.

Despite being offered bail, Kishor refused to sign the bond, stating his hunger strike would continue. He announced a press conference to determine the future location and date of his protest, emphasizing that it would remain within Gandhi Maidan. Police seized 15 vehicles from the protest site and an additional 12 that were fleeing the scene.

The arrest comes after Kishor ignored multiple warnings to end his protest and the subsequent filing of an FIR. While authorities claimed most detainees were not students, Kishor maintains his protest is on behalf of the affected BPSC candidates. The events unfolded with significant police presence and several instances of reported force.
