**Hyderabad, January 7, 2025** – Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has vowed to fight allegations of corruption related to the Formula-E race held in Hyderabad. Rao, speaking to reporters on Tuesday evening, announced he will appeal to the Supreme Court after a High Court rejected his petition to quash the case. He will also seek permission from the High Court to have his lawyer present during questioning by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on January 9th, citing concerns about potential coercion similar to a previous case. He also confirmed he will appear before the Enforcement Directorate on January 16th, if permitted to have legal representation.
Rao maintains his innocence, asserting that decisions related to the Formula-E race were made to boost Hyderabad’s image and position it as an electric vehicle hub. He challenged the Congress government’s actions, highlighting their alleged hypocrisy by focusing on the Formula-E case while ignoring their own unfulfilled promises. He also defended the BRS’s acceptance of electoral bonds, noting that other parties, including Congress, had also received such donations, citing examples like donations from Greenko and Megha Engineering to various parties. Rao questioned whether these donations influenced the awarding of government projects, specifically mentioning the Kodangal Lift Irrigation Scheme and the Musi Rejuvenation project.
