**Hyderabad, January 7, 2025** – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a second notice to Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former Telangana minister, demanding his personal appearance for questioning on January 16th. The summons relate to an ongoing investigation into alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) concerning a ₹55 crore payment linked to the Formula E car race held in Hyderabad.
The ED’s investigation follows an FIR filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). KTR’s earlier petition to quash the ACB’s FIR was dismissed by the Telangana High Court. This dismissal paved the way for the ED’s renewed summons. The agency is reportedly investigating potential money laundering aspects of the case.
KTR had previously received a notice from the ED, and also faced two summons from the ACB. He appeared before the ACB on January 6th but refused entry without his lawyer, subsequently submitting a letter declining questioning and receiving another notice for January 9th.
The ED’s re-issued notice and the ACB’s ongoing investigation have heightened speculation about KTR’s next move and the possibility of arrest, particularly following the High Court’s dismissal of the quash petition.
